Workshops: What you can expect to learn

There is something for everyone of every level. We will touch on some camera and photography basics through nightly critiques, covering everything from technical elements to creative ones. You will have the opportunity to work with audio field recorders and assemble slide shows. We will discuss Photoshop techniques and workflow using programs such as Adobe Lightroom and Apple Aperture. We will also touch on some aspects of video and Apple Final Cut video editing software and discuss multimedia presentations.

Each day provides a shooting portion and a nightly critique. During the day you will work hand in hand with our NGO's on various projects of your choosing. Nightly critiques offer a chance to review your daily work and provide insight as to how to advance your skills. Days are full. Expect to work hard.

Local guest speakers will be dropping in on our nightly meetings to talk about their personal experiences, show work or just to chat.

It is our goal to instill a certain amount of confidence in each student. By trips end:

You can expect to gain a fuller understanding of how to work in the third world under challenging conditions.

You can expect an appreciation for the power of new tools (or better access to the tools you already use).
